PHSRC Wins Outstanding Unit Award for Equity and Diversity

We are incredibly excited and honored to share that the Pre-Health Student Resource Center recently received the 2024 U of M Outstanding Unit for Equity and Diversity Award

This award specifically recognizes our work to launch the Health Profession Pathways Program which currently supports 4 cohorts of talented students from underrepresented communities who are on a path to a health degree program.

In 2021, we launched the Health Profession Pathways Program to provide intentional support for pre-health students from diverse backgrounds as they develop into future leaders in health professional careers.

Students in the program participate in experiential learning in the U of M Health Sciences, gain access to exclusive shadowing and observership opportunities in health settings, and receive individualized support from PHSRC staff and Health Science Student Coaches. Through our work with the Pathways program and beyond, the PHSRC is working to reduce or eliminate barriers that underrepresented students face on their path to a health career.

On Thursday, November 14, our staff attended the Equity & Diversity Breakfast where we celebrated with other students, staff, and faculty who were recognized for their amazing work.

We have deep gratitude for those that have been a part of this work with us - our Pathways students, key partners in the President's Emerging Scholars program and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, and many staff and faculty who worked with us all the way back to 2018 when we set this work into motion.

A final thank you to the University of Minnesota Office of Equity & Diversity for granting us this award.
