In Stage 4, you are ready to fine tune your draft. You’ve established your content and integrated storytelling, and now it’s time to “clean up” your draft.
Assess your sentence structure, grammar, word choice, and aspects of your writing style. The U of M Student Writing Support Center and the Hemingway app are helpful resources to use at this stage.
This is also an important time to get feedback from other people so you can get input and perspectives to verify your progress. If you’re a U of M student or alum, schedule a 30-minute personal statement appointment to have your essay reviewed by a PHSRC career counselor.
