Tricia Todd, MPH

Tricia Todd,M.P.H. is the Director of the Pre-Health Student Resource Center at the University of Minnesota and an adjunct instructor in the School of Public Health. She is responsible for the administrative oversight of the Pre-Health Student Resource Center, which serves the UMN system and over 10,000 people a year. She guides the creation of new educational programming and was the lead author for the Global Ambassadors for Patient Safety, an educational online module that gets accessed by over 7,000 users a year from around the world. She has also developed multiple global experiences for students with a focus on ethical experiences in pre-health. Tricia also serves on the Center for Global Health and Social Responsibility Leadership Team.

Recently, she initiated a UMN system-wide initiative and task force, the Health Profession Pathways Initiative, to identify, reduce and eliminate barriers for students historically underrepresented in the health professions, and is guiding work to identify and deliver the support and resources priority populations need for successful matriculation into a health profession. 

She began her career working in the field of public health with the Minnesota Department of Health and local public health agencies assessing and responding to workforce and public health infrastructure development needs. Tricia was heavily involved in the creation of two public health initiatives – the Emerging Leaders Network, a leadership development program created to identify and nurture future leaders in public health, and the Pathways to Public Health project, a program designed to encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds to get advanced education in public health. She is a graduate of the National Public Health Leadership Institute, and was a member of the Robert Wood Johnson Turning Point Leadership Collaborative. She previously directed the North Central Public Health Leadership Institute – a regional institute covering Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Tricia has served as the president of the Minnesota Public Health Association, as a representative to the American Public Health Association Governing Board, and is a past-chair of the American Public Health Association Health Administration Section.
