Teaching Assistant and Peer Advisor, Pre-Health Student Resource Center
My name is Keemarr McKinney-Van Buren, and I am a senior studying Kinesiology and minoring in African-American & African Studies. I’m a pre-health student, currently applying to start graduate school next fall for my Master’s in Public Health (MPH). Although I’m on a different path now, I was premed for the majority of my undergraduate experience. Over that time, I’ve been able to learn so much from everyone in the Pre-Health Student Resource Center (PHSRC); I’m happy to now give that knowledge back and be a resource for you all.
Outside of being a college student, I currently work with Housing & Residential Life (HRL) as a Community Advisor (CA), as well as an Office Assistant (OA). In the past, I’ve worked with Dr. Daheia Barr-Anderson in the School of Kinesiology as a Research Assistant, helping on her YogaMoves project, and Dr. Shekinah Fashaw-Walters in the School of Public Health as a McNair Scholar. Some fun facts/interests of mine are that I love watching football & basketball (I’m a Seahawks & Celtics fan), I like to listen to music, and I enjoy writing.
All in all, I’m looking forward to working with you all this semester and helping each of you progress in your respective health career journeys!
