Course information

AHS 3005: Modern Medicine Through History in Greece is the newest global program offering from the PHSRC. AHS 3005 is a 3-credit course, with students traveling to Greece during May term after taking on-campus classes during the second half of the Spring 2025 semester. This program is led by health professionals, and students will learn about the Sustainable Development Goals and how history and culture impact progress towards these goals.

Greece is considered the birthplace of Western civilization because of its influence on democracy, art, philosophy, and medicine. In this course, students learn about modern medicine from the lens of Greek history. History is not the only subject covered, students will also learn about Greek's COVID-19 response and their modern medical challenges.

AHS 3005: Modern Medicine through History in Greece is open to all students, including freshman. Check out the Learning Abroad Center's website for this program to learn more about program requirements.
