Course information

AHS 3002: Global Health in Thailand: Humans, Elephants, & Disease is a 3-credit course with students traveling to Thailand over winter break and then taking on-campus classes during the first half of the spring semester. This class, led by health professionals, looks at the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and culture along with some visits to elephant facilities.

While in Thailand, students will learn about Thai healthcare for humans and animals and the role of elephants in the Thai culture. Students will understand Thailand’s progress toward a number of SDGs and learn the role and impact culture has on that progress. During the classroom portion of this course, students will continue to explore global health by comparing and contrasting SDGs in Thailand and Minnesota.

AHS 3002: Global Health in Thailand: Humans, Elephants, & Disease is open to all students, including freshman. Check out the Learning Abroad Center's website for this program to learn about program requirements.
